The Woodlands Concert In The Park Featuring Akina Adderley

The Woodlands Northshore Park

Don’t miss this fall favorite: The Woodlands Township’s Concert-in-the-Park series. Enjoy a free concert every Sunday evening through October 23, 2011, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Northshore Park, 2505 Lake Woodlands Drive.

Performing Sunday, October 2, 2011: Akina Adderley and the Vintage Playboys, an Austin jazz and soul band the whole family will enjoy. Front person/vocalist Akina Adderley brings her distinguished musical pedigree to the Vintage Playboys, a tight group of players from an eclectic musical background, who “sizzle with all the right grooves,” according to the Austin American Statesman.

Bring a blanket, picnic dinner and lawn chairs to enjoy leisure time with your family and friends. Northshore Park offers plenty of lawn space for tossing balls and Frisbees®, a large playground, two sand volleyball courts and pathways. All bands are family-friendly.

National Night Out in The Woodlands

Local, state and federal law enforcement and safety agencies will join residents of The Woodlands to celebrate National Night Out during the community-wide kick-off celebration at Northshore Park on Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 1 to 5 p.m.

This free event is coordinated by The Woodlands Township, Neighborhood Services Department, and will include public safety and crime fighting demonstrations by organizations including:

The Woodlands Jazz Concert Series

The Woodlands Jazz Concerts

The Woodlands will kick off its six-week fall concert series on Thursday, September 8 with a live performance from jazz saxophonist Joseph Vencelli and a special runway fashion show presenting new fall styles for women, men and children.

Fashion Night Out at Market Street will begin at 6 p.m. with Joseph Vencelli on the performance stage in Market Street’s Central Park. At about 7 p.m., the Market Street fashion show runway will come alive with presentations of great fall styles from many of the shopping destination’s fashion retailers. Following the fashion show, Vencelli will return to the performance stage and perform until 8:30 p.m.

The jazz sounds of Joseph Vencelli will serve as the opening concert for Market Street’s fall concert series, six weeks of live performances featuring local musical talent every Thursday through October 20.

Every fall concert series performance at Market Street is free and open to the public. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome.

The Woodlands Arts In The Park

Arts in the Park, offered by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department, will be held at Rob Fleming Park in the Village of Creekside Park on Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Arts in the Park is a venue for local artists to exhibit their creations, giving attendees the opportunity to purchase original work produced by these artists. Whether it be unique woodwork, painting, crafts or jewelry, all aspects of the visual arts will be on display.

“September’s Arts in the Park gives us the opportunity to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month,” said Township Parks and Recreation Director, Chris Nunes. “We invite everyone to attend and enjoy the art as well as live performances showcasing Hispanic heritage.”

Live musical entertainment begins at 4 p.m. and continues throughout the entire event. Children ages 12 and under will enjoy Kidzone, where they can explore their creative side with an art project and a moonwalk.

The event is free for the entire family, and concessions will be available. The first 300 people to visit The Woodlands Township tent will receive a free Arts in the Park T-shirt (while supplies last).

Arts in the Park is presented by Liberty Mutual; entertainment sponsor is the Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
