Pelican Builders has purchased two acres of land in East Shore, the Garden District of The Woodlands Town Center from The Woodlands Development Company for the construction of homes in two new neighborhoods – Ellipse Park and East Gate, according to Buck Driggers, Vice President of Residential Sales and Development for The Woodlands Development Company.

The first phase of development in Ellipse Park will feature 12 single family homes. The homesites are situated in the Mid-Lake area of East Shore, adjacent to Ellipse Park, a one-half acre private garden park. The homes will feature views of either the park or 200-acre Lake Woodlands.

According to Derek Darnell, Principal with Pelican Builders, the homes will feature classic architecture, elegant interior finishes and view corridors to side courtyards and patio spaces. The architect is George Hopkins of The Hopkins Company, Architects, based in New Orleans. The average home size will be 3,000 square feet with three bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths and a breakfast room. Homebuyers will have the option to convert an additional 722 square feet, adding a fourth bedroom, fourth bath and study. The homes will range in price from the $690’s - $770’s.

Situated off Lake Front Circle in East Shore, East Gate will be a neighborhood of 41 single family patio homes with gated access. “The community will offer privacy and elegance at an affordable price,” said Darnell. East Gate will feature a swimming pool and cabana, available exclusively to its residents. Home sizes will range from 2,100 – 2,600 square feet with pricing from the $400’s. Construction is expected to begin this winter with initial occupancy in the fall of 2012.

Plans for a new gated enclave within The Woodlands’ 240 acre neighborhood of Timarron in the Village of Creekside Park are beginning to unfold, including multiple lakes, a scenic bridge leading to a private clubhouse for residents, gated entry, and 280 homes and patio homes designed for those seeking an elegant yet low maintenance lifestyle.

The first step in the vision for the area will be the installation of the south gates leading into the neighborhood of Timarron Lakes, located at the intersection of Pine Plains Drive and Greenprint Drive. Designed by SLA Studio Land in the Arts and Crafts style that is prevalent throughout the Village of Creekside Park, the gates are expected to be completed this fall.

Coventry Homes has already opened the first patio home neighborhood within Timarron Lakes. Located just north of the south gates on Pine Plains Drive, Coventry features nine patio home designs priced from the $250’s - $280’s. The homes range in size from approximately 2,000 – 2,600 square feet and include two to three bedrooms with some homes featuring a separate casita, two to three baths and two- to three-car garages. The highlight of Timarron Lakes will be a 2,300-square-foot Craftsman-style clubhouse situated near the main gates to the neighborhood off Kuykendahl Road and Pine Plains Drive. The clubhouse will overlook the largest of several lakes in the neighborhood, 14-acre Lake Reverie. Plans for the clubhouse include a vaulted ceiling, workout room, community gathering space, kitchen, outdoor deck on the lake with kitchen/fireplace, and a lower deck patio adjacent to the lake’s shoreline.

M/I Homes Inc. is acquiring 100 home lots in The Woodlands, adding yet another community to its local building plans.

The lots are located in the 400-acre May Valley located in The Woodlands Village of Sterling Ridge. Terms of the purchase were not released.

M/I Homes will offer eight two-story home plans and six one-story plans on 55-foot lots priced from the $220,000s. The homes were designed specifically for Houston, says Rick Van den Bosch, M/I vice president.

Construction has begun on a model home in May Valley that will be completed in June.
