2nd Annual Turkey Trot Set For November 13 In The Woodlands May Valley

    Post Category: Community,Neighborhoods — Michele Flory @ 12:06 pm

    Thanksgiving in The Woodlands
The 2nd Annual Turkey Trot in May Valley in the Village of Sterling Ridge will take place on Saturday, November 13, 2010 from 12 noon – 5 pm in May Valley Park, located on May Valley Circle. This family oriented event will include large inflatable rides, rock climbing walls, live music from Rockit Bayou, a petting zoo with live turkeys and other lovable critters, pony rides, Gobbler Games on the Green, and concessions featuring turkey legs, sausage on a stick, funnel cakes and other delicious autumn treats.

Free shuttle tours will be available to the 9 model homes in May Valley. Sales associates in the model homes will be handing out raffle tickets, and visitors will receive one ticket at each home they tour – the more models you visit, the better your chance to win. Free turkey dinners with all the trimmings from The Woodlands Resort will be raffled off every hour during the event. Featured home builders in May Valley include Highland Homes, D.R. Horton, Lennar, Partners in Building, Trendmaker and Village Builders. New home prices range from the $140’s - $500’s.

In addition to receiving raffle tickets for visiting the model homes, guests will have the opportunity to win tickets for food items sold onsite during the festival. Bring three non-perishable food items for Interfaith’s Food Pantry, and receive two free food tickets, or win tickets at “The Gobbler Games on the Green”. Games include “Pin the Tail Feathers on the Turkey”, “Spin the Wheel for Turkey Bucks” and “Thanksgiving Thumbkins”. You can also purchase The Woodlands green t-shirts for the whole family for just $10 each for adult sizes and $5 for children’s sizes. Children will get to pick from the “Turkey Treasure Box” for their choice of prizes when they play the Gobbler Games. Everyone is a winner!

The “Turkey Trot”, a short walk around the green for kids and their parents, will take place every 30 minutes from 1:00 – 2:30 pm. Kids who complete the trot will have a chance to get their photos taken at the finish line with “Pilgrim” Puffy Pine Cone, lovable mascot of The Woodlands, dressed in Thanksgiving attire.
Concessions will feature “Turkey Trot Treats” priced from $1 - $5 (cash only.) Festive offerings include Turkey legs, sausage on a stick, corn on the cob, funnel cakes, ice cream and kettle corn. All proceeds from the food sales will be donated to the Montgomery County Food Bank.

“Hundreds of families enjoyed this festive autumn event last year, so we’re bringing it back to May Valley Park again,” said Susan Vreeland-Wendt, director of marketing for The Woodlands Development Company. “It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors on these beautiful fall days, see new homes in the growing neighborhood of May Valley, win great Thanksgiving prizes, and give back by supporting the Montgomery County Food Bank and Interfaith’s Food Pantry.”

Those shopping for new homes in The Woodlands can now take advantage of the “Holiday Countdown” program that rewards those who purchase a new home in The Woodlands between October 1 and December 31 and close by February 28, 2011 a $2,000 Woodforest National Bank MasterCard and valuable builders’ incentives. Those who purchase in May Valley or Timarron in the Village of Creekside Park between September 1 and December 31, 2010 and close by February 28, 2011 also receive a free one-year family membership to the South Montgomery County YMCA.

To reach May Valley Park, take I-45 North to the Woodlands Parkway exit (76B). Travel west on Woodlands Parkway about 9 miles to W. Branch Crossing Drive (this is the second Branch Crossing Drive; the opposite corner is Terramont Drive). Turn left and follow the signs to May Valley, about one mile down on the right. Then follow the signs to May Valley Park. Call The Woodlands Homefinder Center or visit www.thewoodlands.com for more information.

The Pavilion Ranks No. 2 in the World for Concert Ticket Sales

Post Category: Community,Town Center — Michele Flory @ 9:27 am

    The Woodlands Pavilion
The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion ranked second in its listing of the top 100 amphitheaters in the world based on the number of tickets sold through the third quarter of the year, according to Pollstar magazine, the concert industry’s leading trade publication. The Pavilion’s ticket sales totaled 307,489 for shows played between January 1 and September 30, 2010.

“We have had an incredible year so far, including an extremely busy month in September. The quality and variety of shows we have presented has been fantastic,” said Pavilion President and CEO Jerry MacDonald. “I attribute the high ranking to a relatively strong Houston market and our booking partnership with Live Nation. The Pavilion is a great way to experience concerts and our location is one of the keys to our success.”

So far this season, The Pavilion has had six sold-out concerts including Buzzfest XXIV May 2, Jimmy Buffett May 20, Jack Johnson August 18, John Mayer September 5, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers September 24 and Rush September 25.

Upcoming concerts at The Pavilion include Maroon 5 October 22, Buzzfest XXV October 23 (already sold out) and Lady Antebellum November 6, as well as the 15th Annual Children’s Festival November 13 and 14. For more information, visit www.woodlandscenter.org.
