Post Category: Community — Greg Flory @ 7:28 am

The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival is set to hold its fourth annual event April 4 and 5, 2009.

The festival is a juried fine art show featuring 200 national and regional artists of 14 various mediums selling their original creations. Performing artists and entertainment, a “Floating Art Parade”, and outdoor café concessions are also featured along The Woodlands Waterway®.

Mark your calendars now for this popular cultural event. Hours will be 10 am – 8 pm on Saturday, April 4, and 10 am – 6 pm on Sunday, April 5. Adult admission will be $10, and children 12 and under will be admitted free of charge. Proceeds from the festival will benefit local partners including The Pavilion Partners, The Woodlands Art League and Town Center Theatre.

Rod Garrett, an acrylic sculptor from Grant, FL has been selected as the featured artist for the 2009 Festival. For the past 35 years, Garrett has worked with acrylics, creating sculptures with the illusions of continuous movement and coloration that reveals itself differently at every angle. Garrett carves, colorizes and shapes each sculpture entirely by hand in his studio, rendering wonderful one-of-a-kind creations.
